The SS-27 Topol-M (Poplar Tree) (Russian: RS-12M2) is an upgraded mobile version of the SS-25 Sickle (Russian: RS-12M Topol). It is a fifth-generation intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM) carrying a single re-entry vehicle (RV) and is comparable in performance to the U.S. Minuteman III ICBM. The Topol-M has been designated as the foundation of Russian strategic missile forces for the 21st century.
