The SS-17 is a fourth-generation liquid-fuel, two-stage ICBM that replaced some of the SS-11 Segos in limited numbers in the Russian/Soviet Strategic Rocket Forces. It was the first Soviet ICBM to have a multiple independently targetable re-entry vehicle (MIRV) and the first to use a cold launch system to simplify reloading.
