CSS-N-3 SLBM

The Ju Lang 1 (Giant Wave, JL-1) was a submarine-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) designated the CSS-N-3 by the West. It was the first operational Chinese SLBM.

The JL-1 was thought to use some technology from the DF-3 (CSS-2). However, development was put off due to the need to master solid-propellant technology and delays to the smaller nuclear warhead and submarine programs.
