The Avangard is a nuclear-capable hypersonic glide vehicle (HGV) designed to be launched atop an intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM). It is suspectedly intended for deployment on the future R-28 Sarmat missile. Upon launch, the ICBM boosts the Avangard to near-Earth orbit, after which the vehicle separates and begins its glide phase. During this phase, Avangard is capable of maneuvering along its flight path, significantly reducing the predictability of its trajectory....
