The Chunmoo long-range multiple rocket system (LRMRS) was developed for the South Korean army. It supplements existing systems, such as the indigenous Kooryong and U.S. M270 multiple launch rocket systems (MLRS). It may eventually replace the aging Kooryong rocket system. Development of the system was spurred by concerns about North Korea's long-range artillery capabilities along the mutual border.
