The Chinese self-propelled 122-mm multiple rocket launcher (MRL) is a well-armored tracked vehicle that carries a 40-tube array. The vehicle chassis is based on the Type 83 152-mm self-propelled gun/howitzer.

The 122-mm MRL was developed by No 674 factory, No. 5137 factory and No. 207 research institute. It appears very similar to the Soviet-designed BM-21 system.
