The Stand-Off Missile (SOM) is an autonomous, long-range, low-observable, all-weather cruise missile developed by Turkey. The SOM-J variant is under development for internal carriage by the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter .
The weapon is intended to defeat heavily defended, high-value command-and-control facilities; surface-to-air missile sites; parked aircraft; and surface ships. It is also capable of destroying moving land targets.
