The Kh-47M2 Kinzhal ("Dagger") is an air-launched ballistic missile that Russia says can travel at hypersonic speeds of more than Mach 5. It is carried by the MiG-31BP or MiG-31K long-range interceptor. It reportedly has a range of more than 1,240 mi (2,000 km) and a top speed of Mach 10, with a range of up to 1,860 mi (3,000 km) when launched from a Tu-22M3 strategic bomber. The missile is based on the 9K720 Iskander-M (NATO: SS-26 Stone) short-range ballistic missile.
