The Dhanush (Bow in Sanskrit, as in an archer's bow) is a short-range sea-launched ballistic missile (SLBM) designed for use aboard the ships of the Indian navy. The Dhanush is either a derivative of the Prithvi short-range ballistic missile or was developed concurrently, sharing several design features.
It was designed by India's Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) as part of the integrated guided missile development program implemented in 1983.
