The AT-8 Songster was a guided missile launched from 125-mm guns fitted in T-64B and T-80 main battle tanks. It was an anti-tank weapon with a high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) warhead, which was deployed in some tanks to make up for poor quality conventional tank ammunition.
The Songster had a secondary anti-helicopter capability. It could also be fired from the Mi-24 Hind helicopter.
