The CY-1 (Chang Ying-1) is a first-generation Chinese rocket-assisted torpedo, similar in concept to the U.S. ASROC (see separate database entry). Launched from a multi-celled mount in surface warships, the CY-1 follows a ballistic trajectory to the vicinity of the target. An acoustic homing torpedo, possibly the Yu-4 or Yu-7, separates from the delivery vehicle and is parachuted into the water to attack the target with a high-explosive warhead.
