The 9K31 Strela-1 (NATO: SA-9 Gaskin) is a short-range mobile surface-to-air missile (SAM) intended to support ground combat troops at the regimental level.
The SA-9 was first deployed in 1968. It has largely been replaced by the SA-13 Gopher** system, especially in Russian service.
