The PL-ASR (thought to be short for advanced short range) is an air-to-air missile considered to be in the same class as the AIM-9X Sidewinder, though with a longer range.

The advanced short-range weapon has more recently been identified as the PL-10, although that same designation has also been used to refer to unsuccessful Chinese efforts to reverse-engineer the U.S. AIM-7 Sparrow.
