The KS-1, or Kaishan 1, is the export name of the Chinese HQ-12. The system is designed to engage aircraft, helicopters, RPVs and air-launched tactical weapons.
While similar to the U.S. Army's MIM-104 Patriot in size and weight, the KS-1 has a different shape.
The typical KS-1 battery consists of a phased-array radar guidance station, four twin-missile launch vehicles on 6 x 6 truck chassis and complementary support vehicles.
