The Russian R-77 (NATO AA-12 Adder) is a long-range, "launch and leave" air-to-air missile (AAM) that uses active radar guidance. Its closest non-Russian counterpart is the U.S. AIM-120 AMRAAM , which is also an active-radar-seeker, beyond-visual-range (BVR) missile.
