The PMR-2 is a fragmentation stake mine that can accept any tripwire-activated fuze. It is similar in design to the Russian-produced POMZ-2 and the former Yugoslav-produced PMR-1 mines.

The PMR-2 casing consists of a cylindrical cast-iron fragment sleeve attached to a wooden stake (metal is also available).
