The PMA-1 is a box or "Shu" type mine (similar to the former Soviet PMD-6) that comes in two sections. It is a manually deployed mine and typically buried. The lower part of the PMA-1 box assembly contains 7.1 oz (200 g) of TNT, a MUV-type fuze (the UPM-1, Model 43, or the UANU-1) and the detonator .
