The Type 90-II main battle tank (MBT) represented a big jump in Chinese tank firepower when it introduced a 125-mm smoothbore gun. The gun is carried in a low turret that has an undercut rear section. The chassis is relatively low with a shallow glacis, centered driver's position and engine in the rear.
