Type 88 main battle tank

The Type 88 main battle tank (MBT) is somewhat similar to the Chinese Type 69 MBT, but uses a completely new chassis. The turret on the original Type 80 version is similar to the Type 69, but later variants introduced a new, welded steel turret that gave the series a distinctive look.

Unlike the Type 69, which has a 100-mm gun, the Type 88 is armed with a 105-mm rifled gun based on Western designs.
