The EE-9 Cascavel (Rattlesnake) 6 x 6 armored reconnaissance vehicle was developed in conjunction with the EE-11 Urutu armored personnel carrier (APC). The vehicles share many components. Many of the automotive components used in both vehicles were standard commercial parts. These included the Detroit Diesel and Mercedes-Benz diesel engines.
