The Chinese WZ 523 6 x 6 wheeled armored personnel carrier (APC) is similar in appearance to the South African Ratel 6 x 6 and the Belgian SIBMAS 6 x 6. The U.S. Army refers to this APC as the M1984.
According to some sources, the chassis was developed from the Hanyang HY472 6 x 6 heavy-duty truck.
