The VN-1 is an 8 x 8 armored personnel carrier developed by the China North Industries Corp. (NORINCO).

The baseline hull is of high-hardness armor steel with a layer of applique armor for enhanced protection. It provides protection to within 109 yd (100 m) against 12.7-mm armor-piercing rounds over the frontal arc; 7.62-mm armor-piercing rounds on the sides; and 7.62-mm rounds over the rear arc. Additional bolt-on armor is available to increase protection.
