The Roland 4 x 4 armored personnel carrier (APC) was developed in Switzerland for export to serve in a wide variety of roles such as reconnaissance and internal security.

The Roland has an all-welded steel hull, sloped front and sides, and a vertical rear. The driver is located at the front left side and has a hatch that opens to the right with three periscopes in front. A windscreen and wiper can also be fitted to the front.
