The KGBM (kolesno-gusenichnaya boevaya mashchina/wheeled-tracked armored vehicle) was jointly developed by the K.B. Altay Tractor Factory and the Bauman Moscow State Technical Institute in 1964. The vehicle was designated "infantry object No. 19."
