The BMD-4 (boevaya mashina desantnaya) airborne fighting vehicle is based on the subassemblies of the BMD-3 chassis. The BMD-4 differs in several aspects, including a state-of-the-art fire-control system that modernizes those components as well as a more powerful 100-mm cannon (used on the BMP-3 and BMP-3M).
