The Advanced Composite Armored Vehicle Platform (ACAVP) has been called the first composite moncoque plastic armored fighting vehicle (AFV) in the world.
The ACAVP demonstrator was based on a future scout reconnaissance vehicle with a battle weight of between 18 and 25 tons. It was faster and lighter than conventional vehicles, making it ideal to deploy overseas. The ACAVP hull was made from E-glass, a plastic/fiberglass composite manufactured by Vosper Thornycroft.
