The Velos is a mobile short-range air defense (SHORAD) system using a combination of missiles and guns. It is designed to provide anti-aircraft defense against tactical and strategic aerial targets at low and medium altitudes.

The Velos system can automatically track up to 20 targets and simultaneously engage six: four with missiles and two with guns.
