The Atilgan is a very short-range air defense (VSHORAD) system designed to provide low-level air defense for ground troops, convoys and fixed installations.

The vehicle was originally based on the M113A2 tracked armored vehicle chassis and is armed with a roof-mounted, power-operated pedestal with eight Stinger missiles ready to launch.
