The 2K12 Kub CZ was an upgrade of the Soviet era SA-6 Gainful air defense system developed by Retia in the Czech Republic and European missile maker MBDA. The modernized system was intended for both the Czech military and the international market, according to Retia and MBDA officials. The work was low-cost, low-risk and could be rapidly completed. The Czech government ultimately declined to proceed with production of the upgraded system.
