The 155-mm/52-caliber Panter howitzer was developed to meet the requirements of the Turkish army. It is intended to supplement the 155-mm M114 howitzer in Turkish service. The weapon is also available in a self-propelled configuration.

The gun is fitted with a double-baffle muzzle brake.

The Panter is capable of a sustained firing rate of 2 rounds per minute or 6 rounds per minute in rapid fire. Three rounds can be fired in 15 seconds in a burst-fire mode.
