The 155-mm KH179 howitzer is a converted U.S. M114A1 fitted with a longer barrel and modified carriage. New fire-control equipment is integrated. The M114A1 shield has been removed to reduce weight. The carriage is of the split trail type. The howitzer is typically towed by a 5-ton 6 x 6 truck.
