The 105-mm Boran air-portable light towed howitzer (APLTH) is being developed to meet the requirements of the Turkish army. The howitzer is intended to replace aging 105-mm M101A1 guns.
The system features a 105-mm/30-caliber gun that is fitted with a vertical sliding breech mechanism; hydropneumatics recoil system; and a triple baffle muzzle brake.
The variable recoil system provides a short recoil length of 2 ft 7 in (800 mm) and a long recoil length of 3 ft 11 in (1,200 mm).
