The 122-mm 2S1 Gvozdika (Russian for carnation) was once the most widely deployed tracked artillery weapon in the Russian ground forces. It was also the largest caliber gun on an amphibious chassis. The 2S1 all-welded steel hull is based on the MT-LB armored personnel carrier that has been lengthened to include a seventh road wheel station on each side.
