The Type 730 is a Chinese close-in weapon system (CIWS) designed to protect surface warships against anti-ship missiles and other aerial threats. A land-based variant, designated LD-2000 (see separate record), has also been developed. The design is said to closely resemble the Thales Goalkeeper CIWS, but reportedly is based on the French Sagem SAMOS design. China is said to have acquired the prototype after it was not selected by the French navy.
