The Kashtan air defense missile-gun system is used for defending ships and vital stationary targets against high-precision weapons such as guided bombs and anti-ship missiles, aircraft and helicopters. It can also be used to engage surface targets.
Kashtan consists of three modules. The command module detects and assigns target-designation data; tracks targets; produces firing solutions; and engages targets with missiles or gun fire.
