The most recently developed of the Cockerill series of 90-mm combat vehicle guns, the Mk 7 has not yet been fitted to a combat vehicle. As with all guns in the series, the Mk 7 has a triple-baffle muzzle brake (a Cockerill trademark), although a single-baffle brake has been developed to permit the use of armor-piercing fin-stabilized discarding-sabot (APFSDS) rounds.
The Mk 7 has a longer recoil length and a steeper rifling pitch than most of the earlier guns.
