The Mecar 90-mm Light Gun System is in service on various types of light armored vehicles in several countries. It is lighter than most guns of its caliber, has a relatively short barrel (28 calibers), low recoil force, low muzzle velocity and short range.
Its chief attractions have been its light weight and ability to fire a variety of fin-stabilized ammunition, although its anti-armor capability is limited to the low-velocity M600 high-explosive anti-tank (HEAT) round.
