The South Korean KT-1 Woongbee (Great Leap) is a basic trainer  designed to replace propeller-driven T-41 and jet-powered T-37 trainers. It resembles other aircraft in the same category such as the Embraer Tucano and Pilatus PC-7 and PC-9. A long development period for the trainer that consumed over 2,000 flight test hours was seen as contributing to the overall development of the Korean aerospace industry.
