The Skeldar (Old Norse for "shield") unmanned helicopter system first appeared in 2006 as the Skeldar V-150, which was derived by Saab Aerosytems from CybAero's Apid 5 series of unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). A short- to medium-range system, the current Skeldar version is the 200, which uses a larger heavy-fuel engine.
