The Avatar was a hand-launched man-portable close-range unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) used for reconnaissance and surveillance. The Avatar was electrically powered, inexpensive and expendable. It was recovered by parachute.
The UAV was made from carbon fiber and designed for rapid assembly and deployment. The Avatar had an endurance of around an hour. The air vehicle was typically operated at an altitude of 600 ft (180 m).
