The Ka-27 Helix is a ship-based anti-submarine warfare (ASW) and transport/rescue helicopter developed as the successor to the Ka-25 Hormone.
The Helix, as does the Hormone, has the distinctive contra-rotating main rotor system favored by the Kamov design bureau. A tall rotor mast rises out of the cabin roof and is tilted forward. One fully articulated, three-blade assembly is carried close to the roof, rotating counter-clockwise when seen from above.
