The Su-33 Flanker-D is part of the Flanker family of fighters based on the original Su-27 Flanker. This carrier-capable aircraft is intended for air superiority, air defense and anti-ship missions. It is designated the Su-27K by the Russian navy.
The Flanker's wing and fuselage are blended into each other to a greater degree than the MiG-29 Fulcrum. The Su-33 makes extensive use of titanium alloys in its construction with a greater use of anti-corrosive materials.
