The MiG-31 Foxhound is a Russian interceptor based on the design of the MiG-25 Foxbat (see separate database entry). It is intended for interception of aerial targets in visual and instrument flight rules, day or night, individually or in groups. The Foxhound shares the same basic airframe configuration (and probably materials) with the Foxbat.
