The Ching-Kuo Indigenous Defense Fighter (IDF) is the first Taiwanese fighter aircraft to be locally developed and produced. Its production was a result of the U.S. government blocking license production of the F-20 Tigershark and other advanced tactical fighters built by U.S. companies.
