The Il-18 Coot is a medium cargo/transport aircraft designed mainly for civilian airline use, but which has been adapted for limited military use.

An electronic intelligence (ELINT)/reconnaissance version is also available as an airborne command post (ABNCC) version (Il-22, see separate database entry). In addition, the Coot served as the basis for the Il-38 May anti-submarine warfare (ASW)/maritime patrol aircraft (see separate database entry).
