South Korea’s naval modernization over the last two decades has added new capabilities to its fleet, including large-deck amphibious ships. The first, Dokdo, is seen above during search-and-rescue operations after the Sewol ferry sank in the Yellow Sea in April 2014. An improved sister, Marado, was commissioned into service in June 2021.
