Army, Paramilitaries Fight For Power In Sudan

On April 15, fighting broke out between the Sudanese armed forces and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF). During initial clashes in the capital, Khartoum, the RSF claimed to have seized the presidential palace, army chief’s residence, state television station and the airports in Khartoum, Merowe, El Fasher and West Darfur state. The Sudanese military rejected the claims.
