The Zaporizhzhia nuclear power plant in southeastern Ukraine is
shown above in better times. It was captured by Russian forces on
March 4. One of the buildings at the site was damaged during the
fighting. As the war in Ukraine grinds on, there are growing concerns
about the safety of nuclear facilities under Russian control and the
potential for a nuclear disaster with implications beyond the region.
