New Maritime Strategy Seeks To Prevent War

U.S. Coast Guard Commandant Adm. Thad Allen addresses representatives from 100
countries during the International Sea Power Symposium at the Naval War College,
in Newport, R.I., in mid-October as the U.S. released its first maritime strategy update
since the 1980s. The revision, reflecting the efforts of the Navy, Marine Corps and Coast
Guard, outlines a strategy that places sea power at the center of future security concerns.
