The U.S. Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID),
at Fort Detrick, Md., conducts research on biological threats. While its emphasis is
on protecting military service members, the research may have wider applications.
USAMRIID, an organization of the U.S. Medical Research and Materiel Command,
is the lead medical research laboratory for the U.S. Biological Research Program.
